FANCY JAZZ

STANDARDS AMAMERICAN STANDARDS OF THE 30’S/40’S
filtered in a fragrant potion of Pop, Latin, Jazz and Classical
for an esoteric and glamorous suspense experience.

Jazz often feeds on instrumental pieces or songs from other musical lands. Thus Jacques Loussier is famous for his interpretations of Bach’s music, Thierry Eliez with “3 around the 4” pays a beautiful tribute to the Beatles, the singer Paul Anka makes pop swing on “Rock Swings”, not to mention Miles Davis with “Time After Time” by Cyndi Lauper. Many jazzmen on the planet do the same.

Rose Franck takes the opposite journey by propelling great jazz standards into the parallel universe of their imagination.

With pop accents, harmonies imbued with 20th century classical music or more ethnic rhythms, Franck Monbaylet creates a sound setting around Rosa’s voice, sensual, strong and rich in her Latin American culture, giving these magnificent timeless songs a new aesthetic. Adaptations in Spanish are grafted onto this original reinterpretation.

BIO

Franck Monbaylet is a pianist, composer and arranger known for building bridges between musical styles. Whether for variety (Véronique Sanson, Serge Lama, Yves Duteil) or musical comedy (Emilie Jolie), jazz with original creations (Grieg in Blue, Ethno Monk), Spanish works such as La Nuit Obscure (Grand Prix de l’académie Charles Cros), Llanto and Pelleas y Melisanda, rap with Abd Al Malik or ethnic pop with Diego Modena (Ocarina), Franck plays, arranges, orchestrates and conducts. He won the award for best film music at the Beijing festival with Sylvain Chomet for the film Attila Marcel.

Rosa Ines Villegas is a French-Colombian singer, author and composer. Her artistic career is eclectic: cabarets on the Champs Elysées and Tokio (Pau Caraïbes), theater companies (La Llave, Mictlan), jazz clubs and Parisian stages (New Morning, Duc des lombards), international tours, in collaboration and with her own projects (Vibracion del Alma, Quarteto Rosa, Trova Nova, Luis&Rosa). Her music is tinged with the folklore of her Latin American roots, the jazz and pop that surround her and sometimes electro that she explores.
